Frank Belknap Long's "The Hounds of Tindalos" was one of the earliest contributions to H. P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos, and Long's imaginative concept of these terrifying creatures from another dimension ("They are hungry and athirst!") has inspired dozens of other authors. In this substantial volume, many important contributions to the "Tindalos Cycle" will be found, including Long’s other ventures into Mythos fiction, "The Space Eaters," the short novel The Horror from the Hills (which includes a length verbatim transcript of a Lovecraft letter), and other writings.
Significant influences on Long’s ideas, including tales by Robert W. Chambers and Ambrose Bierce, are included, as well as elaborations of the Tindalos mythos by such leading writers as Ramsey Campbell, Robert Bloch, Lin Carter, Stanley C. Sargent (who contributes the novella "Nyarlatophis, a Fable of Ancient Egypt"), and such Long devotees as Peter Cannon, Perry M. Grayson, and the editor, Robert M. Price. All in all, this volume contains a rich treasure-house of terror that will have your howling with delight.
Robert M. Price is the author of numerous anthologies of Mythos fiction as well as such critical volumes as H. P. Lovecraft and the Cthulhu Mythos. The long-time editor of the legendary journal Crypt of Cthulhu, Price’s own Mythos fiction has been collected in Blasphemies & Revelations.
